Substance abuse remains a national issue.
According to the CDC, during a 12-month period that ended in April 2021,
more than 100,000 overdose deaths were reported in the United States. This was an increase of 28.5% compared to just the year prior.
Recreational use can quickly spiral into abuse.
Although substance abuse, also referred to as substance misuse, can be difficult to define, it’s important to look at the impact it makes. If the use of one or more substances significantly interferes with someone's
family, work, or social life, it may be time to seek professional help.
The indications of substance abuse vary from person to person. However, common warning signs include:
Keep in mind that this list is not definitive. Stress, anxiety, and other issues may also cause many of these same actions. It can be helpful to start with an open and supportive conversation.

Not everyone needs the same help in the same way. That’s why Headwaters Counseling offers a variety of group counseling opportunities:
Living In Balance
is a new group that started in January of 2023. This program lasts a minimum of 10 weeks, with one to three group sessions taking place each week.
Thinking Patterns
is a group that requires no assessment, making it an excellent first step. The focus is addictive thinking and attendees gain a better understanding of how the brain works.
Relapse Prevention
is an award-winning group for individuals who have previously received treatment. It uses the Matrix Model, offering a supportive environment for people who want to continue making positive strides.

I have been to many many counseling offices in my lifetime. Headwaters counseling is hands down the best place I have ever experienced. Even at a time I had no health insurance, they work with your budget. It made it very affordable for me to seek my inner self in a safe and encouraging, positive space.
They care about your overall health and wellbeing. All walks of life enter through those doors. And all walks of life are welcomed. It is a very welcoming, judgement free zone.
From the front desk staff to the therapists. I call Headwaters “home”. I have felt safe and supported there. The encouragement given/offered is overwhelming. I have made huge shift in my own life from the support and encouragement and therapeutic services offered there.
My voice was heard, my voice was given a safe place to speak. I felt “seen” in a way that other places did not see me. Other places told me I was “crazy”. I was treated as a fellow human being.
If you are ready for change, or to look inward, they are there. Even if you aren’t.. they are there. I recommend Headwaters 100%.
