Your employees have been through a lot.

Whether it’s personal, professional, or both, many of the people your business relies on are struggling.

It can be easy to miss the warning signs in individuals, but overall statistics put this issue into perspective. According to the CDC,
200 million workdays are lost each year because of depression. When converted to dollars and cents, this collectively costs employers between $17 billion and $44 billion.

This reality is as true around the world as it is right here in Indiana.

The old thought process among companies is that personal issues are the sole responsibility of individuals. However, many forward-thinking companies now look for ways to improve the mental health of their workforce.

The question is how.

How To Support The Mental Health Of Employees

Providing the assistance your team needs is more than just the right thing to do. In addition to boosting your retention and productivity, it can also be good for business.

How good?

According to new analysis, you could see
a return of $4 for each dollar invested. Few decisions your company can make have the potential to gain that level of ROI.

Prioritizing mental health can take
many different forms. You could offer:

  • Training related to mental health
  • A more flexible schedule
  • Mental health coverage as part of your healthcare plan
  • New approaches such as walking meetings

Another option is to partner with a provider like Headwaters Counseling to start an
employee assistance program (EAP).

What Is An Employee Assistance Program?

An EAP is designed to help your employees navigate personal and work-related problems through counseling and training sessions.

In a nutshell, it’s a way for you to offer access to trained professionals. The program is free to your team and completely voluntary. No one is forced to participate.

As the employer, you decide how many sessions per person are available. Typically, that number falls somewhere between three and eight, but it’s entirely up to you. If additional counseling is needed after the allotted number of sessions, a referral can be made.

How Much Does An Employee Assistance Program Cost?

EAPs are paid for by the company. This allows your employees to receive professional help without worrying about fees, claims, or deductibles.

With Headwater Counseling, all programs are priced individually. You can choose an option that is as robust or as simple as you’d like. You also have the freedom to be billed monthly or billed per service. If you have any questions,
please contact us.
